PALM DESERT, Calif. - The Clinton Foundation's Health Matters Initiative will hold a forum in Palm Desert today to bring small and mid-sized businesses together to develop ways to meet the health care needs of their employees.
The event at UC Riverside's Palm Desert campus is aimed at developing ``a comprehensive and holistic set of health-focused solutions to address the needs of the local employee population.''
Its four goals are:
-- understanding the business case for comprehensively addressing
employee health and well-being;
-- sharing best practices that organizations are using;
-- learning potential strategies and tactics from others; and
-- considering additional steps that can be taken to strengthen programs.
The Clinton Foundation announced the Health Matters Initiative in November 2012, saying its members would work with Coachella Valley groups to ``close gaps in health disparities, and to improve well-being locally.''
The initiative builds on the Clinton Foundation's first Health Matters conference, which was held in Indian Wells in January 2012 in conjunction with the Humana Challenge golf tournament.
