Charges filed against man in La Quinta shooting

INDIO, Calif. - Felony charges were filed today against a 24-year-old man who allegedly shot two people following an argument in La Quinta.

La Quinta resident Robert Garcia Santos is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The shooting was reported around 2:35 a.m. last Friday in the 53000 block of Avenida Herrera. Santos allegedly argued with a male and female and then fired at their vehicle as they drove away, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's Sgt. Steve DaSilva said the victims drove themselves to a local hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Sheriff's officials didn't give their ages.

Santos was later found and booked into the county jail in Indio, with bail set at $100,000.
