CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - Firefighters were called out to a home on the 31-000 block of Avenida La Gaviota in Cathedral City after a car catches on fire in the driveway igniting the house on fire.
The fire was reported just before 3:15 P.M. by a neighbor who reported heavy smoke coming from a car parked outside a garage of the home.
Firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire from reaching the main house but not before it destroyed the attached garage. Firefighters also reportedly saved two dogs still inside the home. None of the 4 people who live at the home were there at the time of the fire.
Firefighters say due to the smoke damage the family will have to find somewhere else to live for the night.
The cause of the car fire is still under investigation.
