Boris Karloff Month gets underway at Rancho Mirage Public Library

RANCHO MIRAGE - The classic 1931 horror film "Frankenstein'' will be shown today to inaugurate Boris Karloff Month at the Rancho Mirage Public Library.

The film, directed by James Whale, made Karloff a star and is still well regarded by critics. It will be shown at 2 p.m. in the library's community room.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, arts journalist Stacy Davies will interview Karloff's daughter Sara, and 1935 film "Bride of Frankenstein'' will be shown afterward. "The Mummy,'' made in 1932, will be shown at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Additionally, Karloff memorabilia will be on display in the library's Annenberg Reading Room until the end of the month.
