Kids who are 12-20 years old are eligible to tryout to become ball kids for the prestigious event, which will be held March 3-16 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

New ball kids with no prior experience are required to participate in four training sessions and one pre-qualifying date (either on March 1, or March 2), and ball kids with three or more years of experience must participate in two training sessions, according to tournament officials.

All those interested in becoming ball kids need to fill out an online application, and pass an online test before coming to their first training session.

Ball kids are needed for over 300 qualifying and main draw matches. Officials said each child needs to have tennis experience and should be prepared to commit to a minimum of five sessions, which will include two day sessions.

Last year, more than 300 local youths made up the ball kids team for the BNP Paribas Open.

More than 1,200 volunteers are needed to staff numerous positions throughout the tournament as well, with ushers being in the most high-demand.

Ushers are required  to provide directions and check tickets for fans on all nine match courts including the new Stadium 2, according to tournament directors. Volunteers receive benefits including an official 'Fila' uniform, a guest credential, a complimentary program and much more.
