An Indio High School teacher was arrested Tuesday in connection to alleged sexual conduct on a student, police confirmed to News Channel 3.
Timothy Goerzen, 35, of La Quinta, was arrested in connection to alleged sexual battery of a student that took place Friday, June 6, Ben Guitron with Indio Police said.
Goerzen was arrested and booked into the Indio Jail Monday where he posted $25,000 bail.
Desert Sands Unified School District also confirmed the arrest of a teacher but did not say who was arrested.
The teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave.
According to Superintendent Dr. Sharon McGehee, the student alleging the assault told a friend, and that friend told her parents. They then contacted the school principal.
The district is conducting its own investigation.
