Rats have held a bad reputation throughout history. But the Michigan Humane Society still managed to convince a few families that vermin need love too at its first rat adoption event.

The "Oh, Rat!" adopt-a-thon was held at the Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland, Mich., on Saturday to help find loving homes for 13 domesticated rats, the Detroit News reported.

According to the organization's Facebook page, all of the rats were adopted at the event.

Adoption fees were $10 for a single rat, $15 for a pair and $20 for three.

Humane Society officials said rats can make good pets, as they are able to be taught their own name, come when called and learn to do tricks.
