John Wesley Shipp played Mitch Leery, Dawson's father, who died in a car crash in season five. Shipp, now 58, is a veteran of soaps, including roles on "One Life to Live," "All My Children," "Guiding Light" and "Santa Barbara." He's also recently had guest roles in the TV shows "Drop Dead Diva" and "Teen Wolf."
