"Smash" star Debra Messing is moving forward with her divorce from soon-to-be ex-husband Daniel Zelman.
According to People magazine, the actress has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split.
Messing is said to have retained the council of high profile attorney Neal Hersh, who has reportedly handled cases for fellow celebs Camille Grammer, Halle Berry and Melissa Etheridge.
Per court documents filed Tuesday, Messing is seeking joint custody of the couple's 8-year-old son, Roman Walker Zelman, as well as spousal and child support.
The 43-year-old actress and the 44-year-old executive producer of the show "Damages," who wed in September 2000, announced their separation six months ago.
They reportedly met in graduate school and dated for 10 years before tying the knot.
Around the time that the couple announced their split, the former "Will and Grace" star reportedly began seeing her "Smash" co-star Will Chase.
