There has been much discussion this week about whether or not Beyonce's soulful and pitch-perfect performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” at President Obama's inauguration was lip-synched. Take a look at other famous lip-synching controversies.

In what has become the greatest lip-syncing scam of all time, pop duo from Germany Milli Vanilli revealed after winning a Grammy in 1990 (it was revoked) that they didn’t sing any of their songs, ever. The first public sign that the group was lip-synching happened in late 1989 during a live performance on MTV when the recording of their hit song "Girl You Know It's True" jammed and began to skip, repeating the partial line "Girl, you know it's..." over and over on the speakers.
