Woman hit by van while crossing street in Moreno Valley

A woman who was struck by a van as she pushed a  shopping cart across a street in Moreno Valley was hospitalized in critical  condition today.
      The woman was crossing across Hemlock Avenue near Obispo Drive just  before 8 p.m. Monday when she was struck by a westbound van driven by a 42-year- old man, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. James Bengston.
      "The elderly female sustained major injuries and was transported to the  Riverside County Regional Medical Center where she is listed in critical  condition," he said.
      The driver of the van was not injured.
      Hemlock was closed between Indian Street and Obispo Drive during the  crash investigation, Bengston said.
