Woman dies in car accident on Interstate 10 in Cabazon
Car overturned in center median after driver lost control
Authorities today identified a 79-year-old Alta Loma woman who died when her car flipped over on Interstate 10 in Cabazon.
Elizabeth Hardy died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau reported.
Hardy was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt eastbound on I-10, west of Haugen Lehmann Way and east of Malki Road, when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve, California Highway Patrol Officer Darren Meyer said. The car overturned in the center median, landing in the westbound lanes of I-10.
A passenger in the vehicle -- 74-year-old Marlene Carlson of Alberta, Canada -- was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with minor injuries, Meyer said. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, Meyer said.
