Weekend golf show gets underway in La Quinta

Third annual three day event takes place at PGA West

LA QUINTA, Calif. -

The third annual PGA West Golf Show will begin Friday  in La Quinta.     

      The free event will open at 11 a.m. at the TPC Stadium Course Practice  Facility at PGA West, 55955 PGA Blvd. The show will be open until 5 p.m. today,  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

      Golf equipment and apparel will be sold and there will be  demonstrations, junior golf clinics, a long drive competition, a putting  course, short game skill zone, music and information about the new PGA West  Golf Academy. The show will benefit the First Tee of Coachella Valley youth  development program.

      Junior golf clinics are today at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at  11 a.m.; the cost is $25 per person. The PGA West Pro-Am golf competition is  Saturday at noon.
