A "Parade of Planes" will course through Palm  Springs today on the eve of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Aviation  Summit.
      More than 70 planes will taxi from Palm Springs International Airport to  the Palm Springs Convention Center, where the convention will be held  Thursday through Saturday. Today's parade will take a one-mile route west along  Alejo Road from the back entrance of the airport and south on Avenida  Caballeros to the convention center.
      The aircraft will be on display inside and outside the venue for three  days, city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell said.
      The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Aviation Summit is one of the  industry's largest aviation trade shows and conventions, according to James  Canfield, executive director of the Palm Springs Convention Center.
      Thousands of pilots and aviation enthusiasts are expected to attend,  with seminars, interactive exhibits and speeches planned.
      Actor Harrison Ford will participate in the "Night for Flight" benefit  on Thursday and deliver the keynote address Friday. Members of Discovery  Channel's "Flying Wild Alaska" are scheduled attend, including Dave Coulier,  best known for the sitcom "Full House," according to Blaisdell.
      On the last day of the conference, the planes will taxi back to the  airport, going east on Amado Road, north on Sunrise and then east along Alejo  Road.
      Kirk Douglas Road will be closed to all vehicle traffic for aircraft  parking through 9 a.m. Monday. Motorists were being asked to use the El Cielo  entrance to access the airport, Blaisdell said.
