New York Times co-chief film critic Manohla Dargis  will give an on-stage interview at the Rancho Mirage Public Library tonight.
Dargis is appearing as part of the library's and the Palm Springs  International Film Society's "Hollywood Behind the Scenes" series. She will  discuss major films, directors and stars, "as well as key turning points in  movie history and the evolution of her own career writing about the movies,"  said library spokeswoman Susan Cook. Movie clips will also be shown.
Dargis has been on staff at The New York Times since 2004 and was a film  critic at the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and The Village Voice.
"Hollywood Behind the Scenes" highlights key moments in movie history  and explores trends in the movie industry with five nationally known critics,  according to the Palm Springs film festival. David Ansen, artistic director of  the Los Angeles Film Festival, spoke in October.
      Seating is first-come, first-served.
