The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular  gasoline in the Inland Empire fell Friday for the first time since Jan. 28,  dropping a half-cent to $4.286.

      The decline is the result of dropping prices for oil and gasoline futures caused by an increase in fuel supplies stemming from increased production by refineries, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

      A 29-day streak of increases in Riverside and San Bernardino counties  ended Wednesday when it was unchanged, according to figures from the AAA and  Oil Price Information Service. It rose two-tenths of a cent Thursday to its  highest amount since Oct. 25.

      The average price is a half-cent more than one week ago and 42.2 cents  higher than one month ago, but 5.9 cents less less than one year ago.
