RIVERSIDE, Calif. -

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular  gasoline in the Inland Empire fell today for the 14th consecutive day,  decreasing 1.7 cents to $4.452.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has dropped  23.6 cents over the past 14 days, including 3.2 cents on Sunday, after rising  52.4 cents over the previous six days to a record high of $4.688, according to  figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 17.8 cents less than one week ago, but 33.1 cents  more than one month ago and 59.3 cents higher than one year ago.

The dropping pump price is the result of significant decreases to the  price of wholesale gasoline, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club  of Southern California.
