Happy Birthday to the Internet
Internet standard turns 30
It's a birthday of sorts for the Internet. And did you bother to send a card? It was on this date in 1983 that the current version of what we know as the Internet came into being. That's when the Internet protocol suite known as TCP/IP became the mandatory standard. It's short for Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol. It basically is the way for computers to transmit data over computer networks and link the various computers that host information with those of us trying to get that information.
