Megan Terlecky is an award winning journalist who brings nearly a decade of passion and experience to the Coachella Valley.

You can watch her anchor KESQ News Channel 3 every weekend at 6:00 p.m. and 11 p.m. and see her in-depth reporting weekdays both on News Channel 3 and on CBS Local 2 News.

Megan joined the Desert's News Leader from our sister station KJCT News 8 in Grand Junction, Colorado where she was the main anchor. Megan was honored to take part in the 5th and final Western Slope Honor Flight, in which WWII veterans were flown to Washington D.C. to see the memorial built in their honor.

Megan also worked at KGAN in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she worked her way up from a political reporter covering the Caucuses to a full time morning and noon anchor.  She also helped launch a 2-hour award winning morning newscast.

Megan's in-depth investigative stories in Iowa have earned her numerous awards including an Edward R. Murrow award and an Emmy nomination for exposing dangerous levels of formaldehyde in FEMA provided mobile homes.  She has brought that same passion to the Coachella Valley with stories like "USO helps Marines get home for the holidays" and "Social media leading to 'social assassination' among kids," which earned her a second and third Emmy nomination.

She has covered a number of news events that garnered national attention including the I-10 bridge collapse, Congressman Raul Ruiz getting sworn in, the historical floods in Eastern Iowa and the Iowa Caucuses. Megan has conducted personal interviews with many of the nation's most important figures and decision makers, including Presidential Candidates Mitt Romney, John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Edwards.

Megan also previously worked as an Editorial Assistant for the KNBC 4 Evening News Team, serving the greater Los Angeles area. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism and Television Production from the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University in Orange, California.

While reporting the news takes up most of her time, Megan is also passionate about giving back to the community. She has volunteered for the MS Society, American Cancer Society, and served on the Board of the Western Colorado Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Megan grew up in Southern California and is excited to have returned home. She enjoys crafting, swimming, and baking, all with the help of her pomeranian Sasha. Megan is a leap year baby with one birthday every four years, but that does not stop her from celebrating!
