Brooke Beare

CBS Local 2 News Anchor

POSTED: 08:10 AM PDT Apr 24, 2012    UPDATED: 09:00 PM PDT Sep 03, 2012

Brooke Beare anchors the 5:30 PM, 6:30 PM and 11:00 PM newscasts on CBS Local 2 and the 10 p.m. newscast on KDFX Fox 11.

Brooke is an Emmy-nominated anchor and reporter who loves digging into tough issues, and works hard to tell the whole story behind the headlines.

Brooke graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Cinema.  She worked for USC's news station, but made her professional television debut in Texas.  While there, she covered the break-up of the Shuttle Discovery over east Texas, and interviewed former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

When the Coachella Valley came calling in 2003, Brooke couldn't wait to get closer to her San Diego roots.  She packed up and joined the Palm Springs CBS affiliate during its first year on the air.  Since then, she's been part of the station's investigative team, she helped launch a 4:00 PM newscast, and even traveled to San Jose to break the story of the arrest of a convicted murderer in the kidnapping and killing of a local boy.

In 2007, she took at job at San Diego's XETV, but returned to the Coachella Valley the next year as the evening anchor of CBS Local 2.

When she's not on the anchor desk, you can see Brooke around the valley as host and emcee of events like the Palm Springs Athena Awards and the Senior Inspiration Awards.

Brooke also serves on the Board of Directors for Desert Arc, which provides opportunities for people with disabilities.

Running, traveling, and being a wife and mother take up most of Brooke's off-duty time now.  She and her husband welcomed a son in 2011.  They also have a rescue cat named Mako.

Watch Brooke's health segment "What's Going Around" every Tuesday evening at 5:30 and Wednesday morning at 6:45.
