Drug-sniffing dogs and X-ray equipment at a Southern California border checkpoint have uncovered 37 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a sport utility vehicle.
The 29-year-old driver, a citizen of Mexico, was arrested Tuesday at the checkpoint in Calexico.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security says the $440,000 worth of cocaine was sealed in 15 packages hidden in the quarter panels of a Jeep Cherokee.
The Los Angeles Times says the smuggling suspect, whose name hasn't been released, is being held at the Imperial County Jail.
