It can be hard to tell if the device you're using has been tampered with. Look closely.

Inside a gas pump fixed with a skimmer
1 / 5

Depicts an actual "skimmer" bypassing the computer card reader of a gas pump in the Coachella Valley.  This particular set-up is installed inside the gas pump and is practically impossible to detect from the outside.  The only way to detect it is if the actual gas pump is open.  Suspect(s) pry open the pump and install the device.  Then they close the pump and no one can tell it was tampered with.  The suspect(s), usually within 24 hours, returns to retrieve the device.
