Takata is nearly doubling the size of its already massive recall for faulty airbags, according to a government source. The move makes it the largest auto recall in history, with about 34 million vehicles affected. Take a look at the biggest auto recalls in history.

1. General Motors (2014) -- GM issued 71 separate recalls in 2014 covering 26.5 million vehicles in the U.S. and 29.9 million vehicles worldwide, according to The Detroit News. Those recalls covered Chevrolet Aveos, Camaros, Cobalts, Corvettes, Cruzes, Expresses, HHRs, Imapalas, Malibus, Monte Carlos, Traverses, Silverados, Silverado HDs, Suburbans, Tahoes, Trailblazers, Trailblazer EXTs, Traxes, Sparks; Buick Regals, Encores, Veranos and Rainiers; Pontiac G5s, G6s, Grand Prix, Solstices; Buick Enclaves, LaCrosses, Regals, Veranos; Cadillac Escalades, ELRs, XTSes, SRXes;  Oldsmobile Intrigues, Aleros; GMC Acadias, Envoys, Envoy XLs, Savanas, Sierras, Sierra HDs equipped with auxiliary batteries, Yukons; Isuzu Ascenders; Saab 9-7xes, 9-4X SUVs; and Saturn Auras, IONs, Outlooks, Skys, Opel GTs, Daewoos recalled over a variety of different issues
