Woman Arrested In Palm Springs Carjacking Involving A Toddler
A 2 1/2 Year-Old Was In the Backseat Of A Car Taken From A Local Hotel
A woman who allegedly carjacked a vehicle in Palm Springs with a 2 1/2-year-old child inside was later found and arrested, and the toddler was unharmed, police said today.
The carjacking and kidnapping was reported at 10 p.m. Sunday at the Extended Stay America at 1400 E. Tahquitz Canyon, said Officer Rhonda Long of the Palm Springs Police Department.
A woman who was yelling that someone had stolen her vehicle with her child inside told police a woman had jumped into her vehicle, pushed her out and drove away with her child buckled in the rear passenger seat.
The woman's vehicle was found 19 minutes later parked behind a Starbucks at Tahquitz Canyon and Palm Canyon, and the child was still in the rear car seat, Long said.
The suspect, Urshla Robinson, 22, from Florida, was caught by police at Palm Canyon and La Plaza.
She was taken to the Banning jail, where she will be booked on suspicion of kidnapping and carjacking, among other offenses, Long said.
