CABAZON, Calif. -

A deputy arrested a Mexicali, Mexico, man Saturday when he found 26 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle, according to a sheriff's department spokesman.

Jose Alejandro Bojorquez, 27, was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Riverside on suspicion of transportation of a commercial substance, possession for sale of a controlled substance, committing a felony with a prison prior and violation of probation, sheriff's Sgt. James Burton said.

The deputy made the traffic stop at 1:48 p.m. today at the Morongo Travel Center in the 49000 block of Seminole Drive in Cabazon, and learned that the driver was on probation, Burton said.

The search revealed two clear plastic bags with a combined weight of 26 grams of a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, the sergeant said.
