Chris Alvarez joined the News Channel 3 team in January 2013 and is thrilled to be working in his home state of California. A Fresno native, Chris comes to the Desert from San Francisco where he worked as Associate Producer/Field Producer at Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
His passion for sports began from an early age and he used to pretend to broadcast games while playing sports with his two younger brothers Zach and Jake in the front yard. Chris played baseball and basketball at Clovis West High School and continued his baseball career into college where he played at Fresno Pacific University for 2 years.
He graduated from Fresno State, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism with a Broadcast emphasis. During college, he landed his first job in TV at KMPH FOX 26. He filled numerous production roles including sports assistant, news writer, editor and photographer. One of his first assignments was to help cover the 2007 MLB All-Star Game in San Francisco.
After college, he moved to San Francisco to work at Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. Chris spent 3+ years refining his TV skills producing features, writing highlights, field producing and hosting videos for csnbayarea.com. While at CSN Bay Area, Chris covered and interviewed the Bay Area's biggest sporting events and athletes, from two San Francisco Giants World Series championships, to Matt Cain's perfect game.
Chris is extremely close with his family and is thankful for all the love, support and encouragement to reach his dreams and goals.
When he isn't working or watching sports, Chris spends his free time staying active, working out, listening to music, improving his cooking skills, using FaceTime on the iPhone and catching up on his favorite TV shows and movies on the DVR.
