PALM SPRINGS (CNS) - Police sought the public's today in identifying a man who robbed the Palm Springs General Store last month.
The holdup occurred around 9:45 a.m. on April 16 at the business in the 100 block of North Palm Canyon Drive.
Palm Springs police Sgt. Mitch Spike said the suspect retrieved an item from a display rack and approached the clerk as though to make a purchase.
He told the employee, "This is a robbery, and I'll take all your money!", then lifted up his shirt to reveal the grip of a semiautomatic handgun in his waistband, according to Spike.
He said the clerk emptied the cash register and the man fled northbound.
He was described as a Hispanic or black male of average height and build, wearing a multi-colored, hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
