A new children’s book titled "Potty Time with Elmo" teaches kids how to take care of business when nature calls. But there's something unpleasant you'll hear if you're an un-lucky recipient of one of the defective books in circulation.
Crystal Gimlin gave the children's book “Potty Time with Elmo” to her two-year-old daughter Charley for Christmas.
"She loves Elmo. I thought it would be a really cute present."
But not anymore.
"It was really, really scary. It really bothered me and it really creeped me out."
If you listen closely to the voice command of character Baby David, it sounds an awful lot like "who wants to die?"
"Some people find it really funny. It is, kind of, like, well, maybe for you it is, but you really need to take into consideration what it is telling these kids."
The publisher that released “Potty Time with Elmo” released this statement”
"The track was recorded as 'uh oh, who has to go' and due to compression of the digital audio file, some consumers hear a different phrase. We are absolutely certain that the audio file was not tampered with. If one listens very carefully, it does indeed say, ‘uh oh, who has to go.’"
Good thing for Crystal her daughter Charley doesn't really understand what Baby David is saying, although she did say this.
"Baby David is very bad."
Crystal still hasn't decided exactly what to do with “Potty Time with Elmo,” but for now she's keeping it tucked away in the closet.
While the publisher's statement says the recording should read "who has to go," some parents have checked out copies of the book to find it says "who wants to try to go potty?"
