Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate what they call one of the largest child porn cases right here in the valley. They say they confiscated thousands of pictures of young girls from the home of a local businessman.
Autotechniques, a local auto repair shop, is owned by 48-year old Steven Vonstein. Police officers were here on Friday because Vonstein is a convicted felon and police say they got a tip that Vonstein had guns and drugs.
Tonight, the D.A. tells NewsChannel 3 they're getting ready to file charges against Vonstein tomorrow for illegal weapons and drugs.
People here in this commercial area just off of Avenue 42 in Palm Desert are still talking about this huge child pornography bust.
We spoke with the Sheriff's Department a short time ago and now investigators are going through the thousands of pictures confiscated from Vonstein's home. The pictures were in boxes, some in albums, others in a large file cabinet.
Investigators found those disturbing pictures of young girls, hundreds of videos, even some DVD’s, guns and illegal drugs at Vonstein's Palm Desert house on Panorama Drive near Highway 111.
Vonstein is still in the Riverside County Indio Jail tonight and the District Attorney says he'll be in court tomorrow and the child porn charges are still pending.
Investigators say there could be hundreds of victims in this case and want to talked to anyone who may know anything about this child porn case to call the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station.
