California investigators urged to inspect porn industry

(Los Angeles-AP) -- Los Angeles County health officials say they're asking for a state investigation and possible regulations in the wake of an HIV scare in the pornography industry.

But some say that if a condom-use requirement is one of the regulations, it would force the multi billion-dollar business underground or out of state.

A week after two actors tested positive for the AIDS virus, county health officials say they have declared an emergency. They're asking a state agency to investigate.

A trade association for the adult entertainment industry says requiring condoms for all work would be overkill.
