CATHEDRAL CITY - One day after Veterans' day some people are wondering why someone would steal American flags from the Healing Field Memorial at Patriot Park in Cathedral City.    the 5,000 flags honor those who have given their lives fighting the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. 
   
Sometime between 4p.m. On Veterans' Day and 11am Thursday morning a thief or thieves stole two American flags.  the two were located along Dinah Shore. The flags at patriot park are organized alphabetically by last name, the flags taken were in section B.

This is the third year flags have been stolen.  In 2007, 12 flags were taken.  In 2008, five were snatched.  The organizer of the healing field Sue Priest says, "I don't think anyone realizing how much this hurts its like taking a piece out of one of our soldiers."

No suspects have been identified.  The organizers say they'll take back the flags without any questions asked.  the flags will remain at Patriot Park through this week.
