CALEXICO, Calif. - Earthquakes are rattling the U.S.-Mexico border area in Imperial County. A magnitude-3.9 quake centered 18 miles west-southwest of El Centro struck about 11:37 last night. That was followed this morning by a magnitude-3.6 quake that struck at 2:56 some 11 miles south-southwest of El Centro.
There have been a string of smaller quakes, the largest a magnitude-2.1, and there have been at least 7 other quakes that have measured 3.0 or higher over the last few days.
Calexico is 118 miles south of Palm Springs.
