The two men, Dody Abbott of Desert Hot Springs and Victor Griffin of Cathedral City were arrested for being felons and in the pocession of a weapon. The planned buy happened on the 200 block of North Palm Canyon Drive just after 2p.m.
The pawn shop owner of Palm Springs Finest Palm Shop got word the two men wanted to sell the believed to be stolen guns. After stalling the two suspects for close to 20 minutes so police could get in place, officers came in with their guns drawn. The pawn shop owner told them he would outbid any other buyer. The owner says he just wanted to get what he thought were stolen guns off the streets. Larry Kirkwood, co-owner of Palm Springs Finest Pawn Shop says, "It worked together perfectly, we got the guns off the streets and the men behind bars where they belong".
Palm Springs Police officers at the scene said the guns were stolen, dectectives are still trying to connect the guns to possible home buglaries in the area. The suspect's red ford mustang towed away and impounded as evidence. More possible stolen items were recovered from inside the car.
